Welcome to The Library

Analysis is awesome.  It is what keeps us in the fandoms warm and simmering on crazy while all our favorite actors go out and do human things like breathe and eat and make more things for us to analyze. 

I personally like the new design that they have given us, I mean, look at all that lovely blue:

I don’t know if it is just the lighting or that is the actual color, but I am loving it.  For some reason, even though the color itself is not dark, it helps make everything seem like it is in shadows (the decrease in number of light sources also helps).  Before, it was, overall, a very bright orangey color, with highly reflective surfaces and plenty of places for the light to bounce around:

When I looked at this TARDIS is always reminded me, oddly enough, of the colors you see right before the sun disappears down behind the horizon; while the new one is the twilight that follows.  It is not really dark yet, but if you look to the east, the stars are starting to peak out into the darkness.  The new interior doesn’t seem very reflective; almost everything seems to just blend into the background.  I’m not sure what this says about the Doctor, but from what i have seen so far, he doesn’t seem to be in a place mentally or personality wise, where looking back is a good thing.  It may also be the perspective of the photo, but it also seems smaller—there is less room in there, because he doesn’t need as much room with Amy and Rory gone.  It’s like moving to a smaller house or apartment, because you don’t want the constant reminder that you no longer having anything to fill that larger space.  The sad thing is, everyday you live in that new space, you are going to remember why you can’t live back in the place where everything was good, and it is only going to make the pain worse.  He is denying himself both the good memories and a making sure that he will always remember what he has lost.

I don’t know a whole lot about what they have planned for the Doctor in the coming year, or so, but we have been teased constantly lately with this whole idea of the Silence falling and the end of all things (‘end of all things’ may be a lotr quote and my brain is just smashing everything together in one large nerdy ball, so forgive me if that isn’t what is going on in DW—just blame it on the release of the Hobbit).  I like the idea that the Doctor is heading into something, something that is dark and dangerous, and that it might be reflected in the TARDIS herself. 

On an interesting side-note, if the TARDIS is reflecting the new personalities of the Doctor, I love it, because that means that the TARDIS knows her Doctor so well that she can predict and mirror the Doctor before he even needs to make the changes himself.  I love the little things that show just how good the TARDIS is at predicting where the Doctor needs to be, or simply what the Doctor needs.  (I ship the Doctor/TARDIS like an insane person—which is an odd thing to say in almost any other walk of life, but that’s tumblr for you)
